Family

I was raised in a family of 5 children on a stretch of country acreage that was the backdrop of many youthful adventures. My family has been a large influence in my life as my siblings and I were able to learn a lot about life from time in the garden or around the dinner table with our parents and grandparents.

Involvement

During my time at UNI, I volunteered a lot of time as an admissions ambassador. In this role I welcomed visiting families to campus, guided tours and represented the university in various capacities around campus and the Cedar Falls community.

I worked as a Resident Assistant for 2 years on campus. Through those years I was able to establish meaningful mentoring relationships with underclassmen. The RA position helped me sharpen skills in community building, confrontation and working with a staff to create a happy and healthy living environment for our residents.

Interests

I am employed at a local coffee shop in Cedar Falls. I find myself spending a lot of free time at the shop as it is a center of conversation, creative thinking and a displaycase for local artists.

I also put time into Redeemer Church in Cedar Falls and the campus ministry we support. Engaging in the church community is something I truly enjoy. My role in our campus ministry allows me to connect with students in genuine community.

Travel

I have been fortunate to see many cities and beautiful places in the world through travel. Growing up, my family visited national parks from coast to coast. In more recent years I have visited Paris, Barcelona and Puerto Rico. I hope to continue seeing the world in the future and I think a backpacking trip in Europe is on the horizon.
